Rotuma Island is one of the most remote islands in the Fiji group (possibly the remotest). There is no electricity, no roads, no hardware stores and few skilled carpenters so building a house here comes with huge challenges. When this client first approached us about building a kit set family home on Rotuma the Fraemohs solid timber design was the first and perfect solution.
These houses use a unique inter-locking wall system where each timber board is cut to precision and simply locks into the next piece - a bit like a large Lego set! No need for framing, cladding, interior wall linings or plastering, just lock the pieces together and put the roof on.
The boards are made from plantation pine making them eco friendly and are almost 4 inches thick and anchored down with metal corner rods, so this house won't blow away! It is engineered and rated to Cat 5 cyclone and will come as a complete home with fitted kitchen and bathrooms and everything this family will need to build this 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house, and yes, they are going to build it themselves!
All of our kit homes are engineered up to Cat 5 cyclone certification and come with a full set of working drawings to satisfy your local council requirements.
We can organise geotechnical surveys for just about anywhere in Fiji as well as a host of other consultation services to get your new kit home project off the ground – literally!
PPS – your problem is our solution.
