We've waited a long time for this and are delighted to see our latest kit home arrive from New Zealand. It cleared customs in Suva with 3% import concession applied and was then delivered to our client's site on Taveuni Estate, Taveuni Island.
It's hard to imagine at the moment, but the contents of these two containers will eventually become a dream home with amazing views over the Somosomo Strait.
This home has been uniquely designed to our client's specification. The generous main living area has a master bedroom with ensuite attached. The guest unit has 2 bedrooms with shared bathroom.
It's a steel frame structure engineered to category 5 cyclone certification and while that might sound more like a commercial building the house is actually beautifully designed with large glass sliding doors encouraging natural light and air flow. A covered breezeway between the 2 houses means that guests will have their own privacy but are never far away.
The property will be 100% powered by a solar system specifically designed by Clay Energy in Suva.
There will be 2 outdoor bathrooms at the rear of the property and lots of other special features that will make this house stand out from the rest.
Here's a peek at the original concepts:

Whilst Taveuni is a popular holiday destination complete with resorts and busy main town the remote location of Taveuni Estate with no electricity and hard, volcanic core presents its own construction challenges. Gareth Williams, Technical Director of PPS has been appointed Project Manager and will oversee the complete build.
Watch this space as we start to write the story of this new home and share experiences along the way.
